PESE (Palk Enterprises Supported Employment)

A program funded by the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services that provides community-based assessments, job development, job coaching, and extended support to meet the employment needs of the individuals served.

Palk Enterprises

Palk Enterprises enables customers to refine independent skills and increase productivity through subcontract activities at the center as well as participation on mobile crews. Customerss work in an individualized program that addresses needs and reinforces strengths in order to maximize independence.

The Contract Production Department provides cleaning and window washing services at the business site. In house contracts include opportunities for packaging/assembly work, sorting, and many other tasks.

McGraw Center

A day habilitation program that offers training for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through in-house and community based training activities. Activities include training in vocational skills, daily living skills, communication skills, personal care skills, community awareness and current events, recreation, physical fitness, music, arts and crafts, and self-advocacy. All individuals who attend McGraw Center have the opportunity to volunteer weekly for Meals on Wheels and/or the Community Soup Bowl, and to be a member of People First, a self-advocacy group. In addition, some individuals participate in the Best Buddies Program that is operated in conjunction with the University of Alabama.

Hourly Services Program

Hourly Services are provided by The Arc of Tuscaloosa County to promote the specific interests and needs of people with disabilities. They are provided in the home, community, or other setting chosen by the individual or the family. These services are provided to promote independence and inclusion in the community and self determination.

To access these services the individuals or their families would need to apply through their case manager at the Ability Alliance of West Alabama, 205-333-1577
