The Arc of Tuscaloosa County is a local chapter of The Arc of Alabama and The Arc of the United States, the world’s largest community-based organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that provides services to adults with intellectual disabilities who reside in Tuscaloosa County.
No one, with or without intellectual disabilities, has attained a quality of life that is beyond improvement. If a high quality of life is to flourish for the people served in our programs, we must overcome discrimination, change expectations and create opportunities. This is what we do at The Arc of Tuscaloosa County. It’s been our mission since 1957 when we were chartered as a local chapter.
Programs and services are designed to enable people with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to achieve maximum independence through the provision of day programming services, prevocational skills training, supported employment services, personal and systems advocacy, family counseling, and dissemination of information to the community.
